Thought creates me

As a man thinks, so is he.
– Proverbs 23:7

Thought.

What I think I am. Thus, thought created me. And continues create me in each moment.

How powerful thought is.

So, what is thought? Is it not merely a reflex, a highly conditioned reflex to what one’s mind consumes.

What is the source of the thought? Where was the suggestion, a diversion, the input? Is the thought creating pollution in the stream that is your mind. Shaping feelings and behaviours which in turn perpetuate the thought. Which let it grow. What degenerative information entered the stream. Took over and multiplied with its poison of fear, anxiety and worry.

So, you think you caught a cold. No, you caught a few cells from a virus. A few particles for which you provided an environment in which those particles could grow so that you are in fact, the source of the disease generated by your own chemistry.

Thought is the same.

To see it any other way is to be the victim. To see it any other way is to find yourself powerless. Succumbing to the polluted stream, allowing it, accepting it, perpetuating it, becoming one with it. Letting it spread and take over and reorganize the system. Your system.

To see it this way is radical self-responsibility. To see it this way is empowering. To see it this way creates limitless possibilities.

Find the source of the pollution. Remove it. Take every thought captive. Connect to a source that is true, pure and lovely.

The source you are connected to determines your fruit.

Change your thought and everything will change from there. Thought creates. Thought creates you.

And in the context of these ponderings, I just love what Philippians 4:8 (The Message) has to say:

‘Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies.”

Boom.

For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal
but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds,
casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God,
bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.
